Squirrel on Life: Adrenaline makes mistakes...

...I call it "slippery paws"

Though I was a black squirrel robbing nuts from children, I do have a softer, more spiritual side.

I do yoga and meditation and follow buddhism. As hipster as it sounds, it has taught me a lot of things. Things about life, relationships and work; it taught me is to keep calm in every situation.

In yoga when you move slowly, thoughtfully, controlling your breath, spending energy wisely, moving smartly, swiftly (which is actually much harder)  you'll find you can go further rather than if you used all your energy every pose you did.

I think you'll find its quite the same in life.

Its important to be passionate, have emotional conviction and be outspoken, but a lot of the time it clouds our clarity of thought.

In the past its made me stupid things like:

Send angry emails to everyone in the agency (even those not directly involved).

Tell a client something that destroyed our relationships.

Go with an ad which was completely and utterly wrong.

Advertising work with an emotional environment and I'm sure some people in advertising relate to this.

However clarity of thought is a great thing to have in advertising. almost a weapon in the cloudy confusion of rat race thinking.

It allows us to carefully map our next step backed by logic and move forward with more compelling convictions that can help solve our clients need.
